NAPIER RACES.
The winter meeting of the Napier Park Racing Club opened yesterday, and fine weather was enjoyed. There was a large attendance. The sum of £5,389 passed through the tote, as compared with £6,343 on the first day of last winter meeting. Thirteen bookmakers were on the ground, seven out- ( side the enclosure at a fee of £10, . six inside at £20 10s. ( The following are the results: — ! Moteo Hack Hurdles, If miles— Forestl, Lebeccio 2. Donegal fell, Won in a canter by four lengths. Time 3 minutes 27 4-5 sees. Petane Hack, 7 furlongs :—Marathon 1, Guiding Step 2, Waipunui 3. ! Won by three lengths. Time 1 mm <( 34 3-5 sees. Stewards Stakes, 1 mile — Iranui 1, . Woodhey 2, Illustrious 3. Won by -, two lengths. Time Imm 48 3.5 sees. J Napier Steeplechase, about three j miles.— Lingfierer 1, Speciosa 2, Eld- ( orado 3. Also started Nadador, Coy, ( Sylvia Maid. Lingerer led practically ] al lthe way, and won,, by six lengths, . Sylvia Maid fell at one of the brush " jximps. Time 6 mm. 48 3-5 sees. Ladies Bracelet, 1£ miles.— Maka 1, t Wanter and Milk 2, Sealer 3. Won by , ten lengths, no time taken.
