Dec 5. A meeting of the entertainment com mittee was held on Saturday night. '1 he Secretary submitted the balance sheet which showed receipts to be £21 3s, and expenditure £5 3s, leaving a balance of £16 to hand over to Turner Bro*, proprietors of the hall. This is a very bandBorne balance, considering the very rough night which prevented many from being I present at the function. Voles of thaaks were passed to Mesdames Lyons, Jones, Mis 3 Duff, and ail the other ladies for assistance rendered in waiting on performers at supper; to the ladies who so kindly supplied such an abundant variety of refreshments; to Mrs Henna for the use of piano; and to Messra King and Lyons for use of flags.

The Secretary was instructed to write letters conveying the Committee's th>nks to those who supplied the dance music; the Volunteer Band, Hokitika Dramatic Club, and to the ocher Hokitika perfcrmers who supplied vocal items.

At the conclusion of the mtefcing t! c committee handed the balance £16 io Mr E, Turner who expressed his sincere thanks to the committee for their kind' ness on their behalf, stating that at all times the hall would be at the disposal of any committee for the good ot the town or district.

The concert was one of the best held here for some considerable time each item being well received. The Hokitika Dramatic Club received rounds of applause in their amudng comedy "Hook ajd Eye."
