THE RHODES SCHOLARSHIPS

Wellington, June 7

A meeting of the committee appointed to select a candidate from New Z°aland for the Rhodes Scholarships was held todiy, and James Alhn Thomson, B.S.C, of the Otago University, was chosen. Mr Thomson will have tv be in residence at Oxford in October next. He is a native of Dunedin, 23 years old, and the son of Mr G M Thomson, late science master at the Dunedin Bo High School.

The successful candidate was for six years at the Kaikorai Public School, six years at the Dmiedin Boys' Hicjh School, and four years at the Otago University, where he took his science degree.
