TO-NIGHT.
THE GATES OF BONDAGE.
The Grey Star speaking of a recent performance in that town says :—: — At the Opera House last night a crowded audience greeted Mi»s Williamson's dramatis* ation of Hall Caine's well known work u lhe Deemster." The dialogue throughout is powerful and emotiondl, and the _/ various stirring scenes with which the \ piece abounds, give ample scope to the various members of the company to Bhoir that there histrionic ability is of the very highest order. As Dan Mylrea the good hearted rash and fiery ne'er-do-well Mr Alfred Woods was at his best, depiciing the various moods of the scapegrace in a manner that evoked continued applause. Mr Boothman as Bishop Myrlea again showed what a versatile tnd splendid actor he is and well deserved the plaudits of the audience, which were again and again given to him. Mr Buckler as the Deemster and Mr J. Lambub aa Therkerl Alylvia did full justice to their parts, whilst the other male characters were exceedingly well taken. Miss Williamson however, as Mona Mylvia, deserves all the encomiums that can be showered on her. Such acting as hers must be seen and heard to be ap - preciited, and the immense enthusiasm of the audience which rang ont again and" again was but a tribute to a masterpiece of acting. The other characters were allwell filled and once there was a consensus of opinion at the Opera House last ni^ht that the Woods^Wilhamson Company has never been equalled by the very best that have visited us.
