Speaking of the Chmtchurch Concert Party' which appears at Ross on Thursday and Hokitika on Friday evenings the "Westport Times" of lastSatnrday Fays : The Victoria Theatre was crowded last nuht when the clever Christchurch Concert party gave their opening entertainment, The programme presented gave the utmost satisfaction, every item on the list being encored. Mr Miller was absent, throcgh indisposition, and MrHobbs took his place. Mias Ka'ie Yonng, the pianiite, is a thorough artist ; her "Valse Caprice" was a perfoimance to be remembered. The Quartette Party contributed a number of part songs most- acceptableMrs Barber's "Love the Pedlar," ''The Land Across the Sea," and a couple of other contributions were splendid examples of cultivated vocalisation. Mrs Barber is a delightful singer. Master Wallace, the boy soprano, at once became a favourite with the audience. His song '•Tatters" was vigorously encored. Mr Vincent sang "My Beloved Queen" and "An Evening Song;" Mr March "A Russian Love Song," "Lady o£ Alkala" and "Beloved it is Morn;" and Mr Hubbs several solos. The audience could not have eaough of Mr Winter Hall's recitations ; this sort; of i ( em is often lugu brious, but Mr Hall has elevated recitation to an art ; he knows the class of material that will please his audience and hii delivery isfliwless.
