LIVE STOCK REPORT.

Mark Sprot & Co report :— At their yards, Arahura, on Tuesday aft descriptions of stock well represented. There was absolutely no demand for beef and prices realised for. fiat ca.tfsle were th^ lowest since' the yards were" first opened^ With considerable entriea foi* forthcoming sales and the disadvantages of driving their stock back home vendors- had no option but to sell.

The lamb. tra<4e. the only redeeming feature of the sale,: these were bought up in good lLaes at prices quoted below. There was a good attendance of store stock buyers, one from Totara Flat taking back about 80 head 5 . Prices for stores were somewhat better than those ruling at the previous market,. We sol<s-rr Fat Cattle— On account of- Mr H. Diedrichs, 10 bullocks and heifers up to £6 5s ; on account of Mr H. J . Cutitance, 16 up to £6 15s ; on account of M^Nissbn, 3 at £4 5s ; on account of Mr C; Gnt'iiiance, 3 at £5 5s ; on account of Mr EggEng, 3 at £4 15s 6d ; on account of Mr Thos. Condon, 15 bullocks and neifers up to £7 15s.

Store Cattle — On account of Messrs Gallagher and Keith, 200 head at prices ranging up to £3 2s 6d for 2 year steers ; £2 15a for 2 year heifers; £4 for springers. Sheep and Lambs— On account of various clients, 300 up to 11s for the former and 11s 9d for the latter.

Pony— 1 at £13 ss.

Noie— Our next sale will be held on Monday, January 3rd, 1898, to avoid clashing with the races here.

Sydney, Dec 23. The wool sales closed to-day. During the half year 308,000 bales have been sold compared with 276,000 for the correspond-, ing half last year. The closing prices were firm. The recent improvement in all good wools was maintained.
