The numerous ferries on the rivers iv
the County of Westland ate an expensive item of County expenditure. Many of these ferries are the halting places for the night, of the tired traveller, and the proposal to graut them licenses at 20s per annum to sell something stronger than "the cup that cheers," appears a reasonable one. although it ha 3 not been acted on.
