The Waipara was successfully launched last evening, and now lies berthed alongside tbe wharf. Tbe steamers Kennedy and Wallace were detained in port yesterday owing to a nasty ■ea running home. They are anaounced to , sail this morning at 7 o'clock, weather permitting, 'i The Wanganui and Alert arrived in the roadstead yesterday, the former from Timaru and the latter from Lyttelton. They will be towed in to-morrow. The Waipara will leave for Okarito on Thursday erening at 8 o'clock p.m. i Commander Edwin wired the following ' " urgent " yesterday afternoon :— " Bad weather ia expected batween N.E. and S.E.; glass fall soon, and sea heavy within 12 houri."
