Zephyr was towed to Greymouth yesterday by the Lioness, en route to Melbourne. She takes from this port a freight of wool, tallow, hides, skins, etc., valued at £1410. The Wallace and Waipara, left for Greymouth yesterday. The Albion arrived at Nelson yesterday after noojQ, after, a fine voyage. The Tararua is due at the Bluff any moment from Melbourne via Hobart Town, and the Arawata is also expected to arrive at the above port to-day with the Suez mails. Captain Edwin sent the following weather forecast yesterday :— <• Indications of a falling glass within twenty-four hours, and wind between north east and north and west." The Standard of the 28th of February has the following account of the landing of three shipwrecked crews at Falmouth on the previous day:—" The barque Brittania, of Newcastle, Captain W. L. Thomson, left Pensacola, timber laden, on the 10th of January, bound for Deal, with orders. She commenced to experience heavy weather on January 26th, which continued till February 16th, when she was abandoned. During this time the crew were constantly pumping, but the water gained so muck that she became water-logged, and one of the seamen, a Frenchman, had his leg broken. In lat. 39.35 N., the Swedish barque Ino was spoken with, and the crew (14 men) were with difficulty transhipped to her, as a heavy sea and dreadful gale prevailed; in addition, it was dark at the time. Captain Thomson states it was a wonder boats lived in such a sea. The Austrian barque Seth, Captain Haggra, from Portland (Maine), bound to Falmouth or Queenstown for orders, was abandoned in a sinking condition, with 12 feet of water in her hold, on February 19th, in lat. 47.27 N., longitude 26.21 W. The crew (16 all told) were rescued by the Swedish brig Miletus, of Twedestrand, from Galyeaton to Brerner^ and put aboard the pilot cutter No. 7. The barque Maggie Chapman, Captain Taylor, of St. John's, from Philadelphia for Antwerp, of 779 tons, laden with petroleum, left Philadelphia on January 28th, when she was staunch, strong, and every way, fitted for the voyage. On the 7th February she encountered a gale, and at 2 o'clock next morning Bhipped a fearful sea, which carried away her rudder and started several planks. This weather continued for two days, during which the ship suffered severely, eventually becoming water logged, and, despite all the efforts of the crew, she was finally abandoned on February 11th, in lat. 37 N., long. 45 W."
