THE REPORTED DISCOVERY OF GOLD AT WAITAKERT.

We stated in yesterday's paper that sonic quartz had been bronght down a few days ago from Waitakere, by Mr Hcwson, a settler there, and had been submitted lo Dr. Aickcn, who was quite satisfied that it would pay well for crushing. Mr Hcwson came into town again yesterday, bringing with bim as much quartz as he could carry. There cannot be any doubt that th ; s qvnrix was got at Waitakere, and we believe there is as lilile doubt that it is liebly auriferous. Dr. Aiekin w'll superintend the crushing and thorough testing of the quartz. We may add that it is expected to yield fully ten ounces to the ton. — " Southern Cross."
