Monday, Sept. G. A heavy gale was experienced on Saturday and yesterday. The Wonga Wonga put back, and sailed again this
morning. Major Roberts has been appointed the Governor's aide-de-camp. Ten hourrf of snow occurred at Goulburn on Saturday. Last month's yield of gold was the largest of the year. At the Criminal Sessions, Fergusson, late a clerk in the Government service, pleaded " guilty" of embezzlement, and was sentenced to a month's imprisonment. The trial of Kingsmill, the bank clerk, is proceeding. Insanity is pleaded as a defence. The jury have been locked up. The barques Matador and Bright Planet wore totally wrecked atßulli on Saturday night ; crews saved.
Tuesday, Sept. 10. Kingsmill has been acquitted. The Horticultural Society's Show has been postponed till ihe arrival of Prince Alfred. Great floods have occurred in the Hawkesbury district. The South Creek murder case has been recommenced. The Government intends to stop the assisted immigration system and clo.se the department by the end of the year. Breadstuff's arc firmer. Orders for England are awaiting tonnage ; at present the freights arc too high. The Nineveh hr..s cleared for London, with 1584 bales of wool, 1282 casks of tallow, and 9592 ounces of gold. Wednesday, Sept. 11. The Estimates have been introduced. It is purposed to expend .L 1,587,105 from the consolidated revenue, and L 309,507 from the loans account . The special appropriations amount to L-531,811 ; and the Supplementary Estimates for the present year to L 93,275. The Supplementary Estimates provide a sum of L 743 as the New South Wales portion of the expenses of H.M.C.S. Victoria on her late trip to Chatham Islands in search of ship-wrecked seamen. The financial statement is promitcd for to-morrow. Mason, Thunderbolt's mate, has been captxred near Tamworth, and committed for trial. The South Creek murder case is unfinished.
Bbisbane, Wednesday, Sept. 11. Mr Pahncr, Colonial Secretary, has been re-elected by eighty-three of a majority.
