October 22. Four children have been burned to death in a hut near Pulpy Hill, on Bathurst road. Augustus Morris, squatter, sequestrated his estate to-day. The police have discovered a box containing the missing portions of the female's remains found in Sussex street. Two boys have identified Scott as the persou who engaged them to carry the box to the wharf; but in consequence of its offensive smell they threw the box into a cesspool, where it was found. - Additional evidence was taken against the prisoner to-day, and the further hearing of the case tidjourned till Wednesday. The Osborne and Siain, which arrived yesterday from California, have brought 18,428 sacks of wheat and 8000 bags of flour. Tl c newly-appointed Roman Catholic Bishops <f Bathur-t and Maidand arrived to-day, per ship Empress, from London. Preparations were made early this morning to give the bishops a public reception. Three steamers were chartered to proceed down the bay to meet the Empress, taking on board the heads of the Roman Catholic clergy, the officials of the Catholic Guild of St. Mary and St. Joseph, and other prominent members of the Roman Catholic body.
