West Coast Times Office, Saturday Evening. The amount of import duty collected at the Custom House to-day was L 307 17s Id. The following list of merchandise cleared shews its distribution: —

The following figures were realised by Messrs ATLandress, Hepburn and ,Co., at their rooms, on 17th inst.: — Coey's bacon, Is Ud : Smith's rolled bacon, 10£ d ; F.W. candles, 13£ d per Ib. ; Patna rice, 24s per cwt. ; half sardines, 12s 3d; 1 Ib. oysters, 13a ; lib.' lobsters, 10s 6d per dozen ; 1 Ib. mustards, 13s ; £ do, 8s 6d per dozen ; assorted sauces, 12s ; crushed loaf sugar, 6fd per Ib. ; and privately, a. parcel of 30 £ casks pale brandy, of mixed brands, at an average of 8s per gallon. The same firm also offered the cargo of the J. B. Russell, on the 18th, placing Californian oats at 5s 9d ; Neva candles, Is 2d; 1 Ib. salmon, 19s; oysters, 13s; lobsters, 10s 3d ; £ sardines, 13s^ £ do, 8s 9d ; Batty's pint pickles, 14s ; Batcher's 13s 6d , and Morrises', at 13s 3d per dozen; bottled fruits, 14s 6d to 14s 9d ; h pint salad oils, 93 Cd ; h pint castors, 8s; assorted sauces, 9s 6d per dozen ; Sydnej' soap, 42s 3d per cwt. ; white crystal sugars, Mauritius and Java, 44s 6d to 47s per cwt. in bond- Several parcels of bottled beer were mostly withdrawn for better rates ; these prices on the whole can scarcely be considered satisfactory. This cargo seems to have been somewhat hurriedly put into the market ; no heavy shipments are anticipated for some little time, and a firmer tone may be looked or.
