WELLINGTON, Last Night (PA). —Favoured by greatly Improved conditions with the wicket rolling out easy, Auckland fought back first stubbornly and then with spirit in the Plunket Shield match against Wellington at the Basin Reserve today. Dogged efforts by V. J. Scott and K. R. Deas, followed by more aggressive batting by O. C. Cleal, D. D. Coleman, L. E. Partridge and L. A. Kent saw Auckland compile 312 in their second innings, thus leaving Wellington 196 to get for an outright win. With six runs on without loss at stumps, Wellington appear to have the game in the bag.
