K FORCE OFFICERS TO GIVE MEN BREAKFAST

IN BED XMAS DAY WELLINGTON, Last Night (PA).New Zealanders in Korea will have an English Christmas with the British Commonwealth troop* writes Captain Peter Llewellyn, public relations officer, K Force, in despatch form Korea date Christmas Day. Seasonable weather is guaranteed; so is the turkey and plum pudding, with brandy sauce. The day will start with coffee and rum served to the troops in bed by their officers. Shaving watet* will be brought at the same time. The programme for the rest of the day is: Divine services, Christmas dinner, sports and football, the traditional Christmas evening meal of cold turkey and ham and then a concert and community sing. All the New Zealanders in the advance parly will be together on Christmas Day and nearly every one will have a holiday, but round the clock work, which has been the rule since the Ganges berthed on Thursday evening, will start. Some of the cargo is not ashore yet, but the guns and the vehicles are safe in the dispersal areas. Everyone is tired, but all feel a personal responsibility for seeing that the regiment will find its equipment ready for it and in good order. The advance party’s Christmas present to itself is a 14 unit shower. The designer was L. P. King, of Invercargill, and his “foreman of works” was Sergeant N. P. Huntsman, of Auckland. On Christmas Day Roman Catholic New Zealanders will attend services held by the Rev. H. J. Hayward, whose home town is Christchurch.
