INTER-CLUB TENNIS SHIELD MATCHES OFF UNTIL NEW YEAR
Because of the Christmas holidays and the approaching New Year tournament, inter-club tennis shield matches will be suspended until after the New Year. Those matches which were postponed because of rain, will be played then. In the A grade four matches have been played by all the competing teams, and Wanganui has won all its matches. Gonville has won three and lost one, Wanganui East has won one and lost three. Victoria has yet to register a win.
In the B section St. Mary’s lead, having won all four matches played. Gonvil|e’s B team has equalled the performance of the A team, having won three matches and lost one. Wanganui and St. John’s have each won two matches and each have lost two. Wanganui East has won one match and lost three. Victoria has not recorded a win so far. In section C, two clubs are shown in the records as having played five games. They haven’t in actual fact. One club defaulted to another, one being credited with a win one with a loss. Here is the position: St. John’s have won four lost one, St. Mary’s have played only four games, winning three, losing one. Gonville and Wanganui East have each won two and each lost two. Wanganui has won two and lost three, having played five, and Victoria hasn’t won any.
The matches still outstanding will be played early in the new year.
