U.N. Assembly Goes Into Recess
NEW YORK. Dec. 16.—The United Nations General Assembly went into recess indefinitely today, having completed all its business except the vital issues concerning Korea and Formosa. The president, Nasrollah Enteam (Persia) said he would recall it when the Political Committee, which remains in session to de.al with these issues, has completed its work. The Committee is now awaiting the outcome of its efforts by the Commission which the Assembly appointed yesterday to try to arrange a ceasefire in Korea. The Soviet delegate, Mr Malik, urged the Political Committee to resume its work without delay. In addition to Korea, the committee has three items which it has not yet considered —the Soviet complaint of American aggression against China, the Soviet complaint of United States bombing of Manchuria, and the United States request for a debate on the future of Formosa. Mr Malik described the first two items as very important. The cease-fire commission has begun talks with Unified Command representatives to obtain the United States views before seeing the Chinese Communist representatives.
