Marton Kindergarten End-of-Year Activities

To mark the end of another year, the Marton Free Kindergarten Association recently held several enjoyable functions, including a social evening a children's display, and a tea for the tiny pu-pils. The programme for the social evening organised by the Mothers’ Club included a pianoforte duet by Mrs. Ibbett and Miss Campbell, a solo by Mrs. V. Fullterton-Smith and songs by Mr. R. C. Ball. A play reading by Mrs. Collier and Miss Crabb and some competitions were much enjoyed. At the display given by the children, the pupils charmed a large gathering of mothers by the happy way they went through a programme of songs, action dances and stories. Before afternoon tea was served, the former director, Mrs. Collier, presented the acting director Miss Crabb, with a crystal jug in honour of her approaching marriage. Christmas tree, laden with presents, occupied pride of place at a tea evening organised for the children. A Christmas cake, well decorated, was made and presented for the occasion by Mrs. Klitscher. After tea and a short play the children gathered round the tree to receive their gifts and balloons. Each child was sent home with a piece of Christmas cake for mother.
