DEATH OF MR. C.S. BROWN AT ROTORUA

The death occurred in hospital at Rotorua o'n Saturday of Mr. Charles Stanley Brown, well-known Wanganui solicitor. Mr. Brown was born in Invercargill and was educated at the Southland Boys’ High School. There he won a junior university scholarship, being the third member of the family to do so. He qualified in law at rnvercargill and finally settled in Feiiding. On the outbreak of war in 1914 he sold his practice and joined the forces, seeing active service in France. He was invalided home in 1917 and joined his brother, Mr. C. P. Brown, in practice in Wanganui. In 1939 he bought the practice of Mr. R. A. Howie and was later joined in partnership by Mr. W. S. Thrush.

The late Mr. Brown was one of the Wanganui Male Voice Choir’s oldest active members and was a foundation member of the Wanganui Savage Club. He was at one time president of the Wanganui R.S.A. a'nd was an active member of the St. John's Bowling Club and the Rotary Club. He took a keen interest in the Boy Scouts and the Repertory Society. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. A. D. Kerr, of Wellington, and Mr. C. P. Brown.

The funeral will be held in Wanga. nui today.
