County Clerks Hold Annual Conference In Wanganui

Problems encountered in the course of their work, particularly during polling in the recent local body elections, were discussed by delegates to the Wellington-Hawke's Bay branch of the New Zealand Institute ot County Clerks, held in the Wanganui City Council Chambers yesterday. Delegates also discussed a paper on the standardisation of accounts and accounting reform, presented by Mr. E. M. Fox, of Tauranga. Last night they viewed a short film on local government in England, screened by Mr. D. F. Glenny, city accountant. The following officers were elected. President Mr. W. J. O'Connell (Napier);' vice-president, Mr. J. C. D. Mackley (Masterton): secretarytreasurer, Mr. F. L. Nicol (Marton); executive, Messrs. O’Connell. Mackley, R. K. Gardiner (Gisborne), W. B. Broadhead (Waitotara) and R. E. Barties (Carterton'; branch representative on N.Z. Institute, Mr. R. E. Barnes. , ,

The next annual conference will be held in Masterton.
