WOMEN’S INSTITUTES Kohi

Mrs W. Morrison, vice-president of Kohi W.I. welcomed all present at the November meeting held in the Kohi Hall. Preparations for the December garden party were discussed. A birthday bouquet was presented to Mrs A. S. Anderson, and a spray to Mrs S. Hone. The wandering shilling was won by Mrs. Lennox. Competitions results: Best bloom was won by Mrs S. Hone 1, Mrs Waterland 2. Com. -petition, Mrs Lennox 1, Mrs Morrison 2, Mrs S Hone 3. Aramoho At the November meeting of the Aramoho Women’s Institute Centre, International Day was celebrated. This was the first meeting to be held in St. Andrew’s Hall, where the Aramoho W.I. will meet in future. The guest speaker for the afternoon was the Rev. Simpson, who gave an address on “The Truth of Bible Prophecy’’ with regard to the present day. Sirs. Lichfield gave a demonstration on the making of a floral bon-bon. The secretary, Mrs Upchurch, read a report of the recent half-yearly council meeting, held at Westmere, and also gave a history of the Aramoho W.I. up to the present time. Miss Margaret Hughes contributed two recitations. Mrs Halkett read the thought for the month, and a roll call “A country I would like to visit,” was given by members. As it was members’ day, the president, Mrs A. Greig, asked Mrs Ford to take her place on the platform, and Mrs Gillum to act as secretary, in the place of Mrs Upchurch There was also an exhibition of goods from other countries. At the conclusion of the meeting, the artists and all who held office, were presented with posies . Competition results were: Best bloom, Mrs Sykes 1, Mrs Hughes, Mrs Lichfield and Mrs Seddon (equal) 2. Coat hangers, Mrs Booth 1, Mrs Wells 2. Scones, Mrs Lichfield 1, Miss Georgetti 2. Dried apricot jam, Mrs Booth 1.
