Stranded Fishing Trawler Breaks Up
AUCKLAND, Last Night (PA)—The 51-foot fishing trawler Comet, which struck the rocks off Takatu Point, near Leigh, on Monday night and became wedged there, has broken up and is now a total loss. None of the gear has been saved from her. While working in heavy seas on Monday night lhe Comet, owned by Misa Bros., of Auckland. struck trouble when a net fouled her propeller. She became unmanageable and was swept toward the rocks, which held her fast. The crew of two, Messrs M. Freer and H. Hussey, escaped unhurt and rowed six miles to Leigh.
