Comment On N.Z. Golf By Bobby Locke

SYDNEY, Nov. 6.—" New Zealanders are far more interested in both professional and amateur golf than are Australians, ’ said the British open golf champion, Bobby Locke, when he returned to Sydney by air from New Zealand today. "I played ten exhibition matches and had an average gallery of 900. At Napier, on a wet afternoon, I had 800 following me. Only twice in Australia —once in Sydney and once in Melbourne —have I had a really big gallery. It appears that Australians do not get as a kick out of watching good golf as New Zealanders.” Locke said he considered the standard of amateur golf in New Zealand very high. Tim Woon, of Christchurch, and Joe Holden, of New Plymouth. could hold their own in any country, he said.
