Fat Stock Firm At Late Rates At Wanganui Sale
Entries were on the light side in all sections at yesterday's Wanganui sale, with a good bright sale over the whole yarding. Fat sheep showed a tendency to firm in price from sale to sale, while prime cattle still remain at high figures. Pigs, again in short supply, mad? a keen sale. Prices were; Sheep (all fats shorn): Two-tooth wethers, 56s 6d to 58s 6d; light weights, 50s to 545; prime ewes, 34s to 365; light, 31s to 325; medium store wether hoggets to 695; aged shorn ewes, with late lambs at foot, 325, all
counted. Cattle: Heavy bullocks, to £4O 10s; light weights, £32 10s; fat Polled Angus heifers, £25 15s; young sound Jersey cows, £6 10s to £8; poor store cows, £llos to £4 10s; two-year Hereford steers, £l6; yearling and twoyear steers, £l4; good heavy vealers and runners, £lO to £l3; calves, £2 2s 6d; springing Jersey heifers, £9 7s 6d to £ll 15s. Pigs: Light porkers and forward stores, £5; slips, to £3 15s; weaners, £2 7s to £3 14s.
