WANGANUI SEEN AS THE OXFORD OR CAMBRIDGE OF NEW ZEALAND
In an address to electors last night, Mr. A. C. Seivewright visioned Wanganui as an educational city, the Oxford or the Cambridge of New Zealand. He said:
“I am sure Wanganui can be developed as an education centre. We already are well-known throughout New Zealand for our educational facilities. We have splendid colleges and schools here in our city. The Universities of New Zealand will soon have to expand, what better place than Wanganui to establish new branches of our university life and training colleges for school teachers? This is a splendid city, it has got everything, beauty, wealth and climate. These assets that we enjoy today were created for us by those splendid early settlers who endured hardship of all kinds that we, today benefit from.
