Wanganui As A Secondary Industries Centre
of Wanganui as a secondary industries city was referred to by Mr. A. C. Seivewright in his address last night. He said: “I am, of course, interested in developing the city from the secondary industries angle. I think we can establish in years to come more secondary industries in Wanganui. The Government is bringing out thousands of immigrants to this country; we want to encourage these people to our city. I had the pleasure recently of addressing the New Settlers’ Association and what struck me most was the very find people that have already arrived in Wanganui, keen to make themselves useful citizens in our community and help to develop the city. "I am also in favour of advertising Wanganui, developing the scenic attractions, the parks and reserves that Wanganui is noted for. I will institute a yearly competition for the Mayor’s Cup for the best kept street in the city and will endeavour as much as I can to develop civic-mindedncr: \ among the citizens,’’ said Mr. Seivewright.
