Bernard Shaw Is Sinking Fast

LONDON, Nov. 7 (Recd. 12.10 am). —First hopes for recovery of George Bernard Shaw received a setback today when the 94-year-old writer lapsed into unconsciousness at his home at Ayot Saint Lawrence. His medical advisers reported last night that Shaw is sinking fast and the official bulletin this morning said: “A peaceful night but condition worse.’’

Yesterday Shaw was visited by one of his closest friends, Lady Nancy Astor She said after the visit: “I bent down and spoke to him, and he said: ‘Oh Nancy, I want to sleep, sleep’ ” Reuter.
