PERSONALS.
The Rt. Rev. J. R. Blanchard, Mod-erator-General of the Presbyterian Church of Australia, will arrive in Auckland today to represent his country at the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand. Wing-Commander C. D. Milne, D.F.C., R.A.F., is visiting New Zealand after an absence of 19 years. He arrived at Whenuapai yesterday on a Royal Air Force Handley Page Hastings. Mr E. R. Clark, of Christchurch, was inducted last evening as president of the Baptist Union and Missionary Society of New Zealand, which began its 68th annual assembly at Christchurch. Mr Clark succeeds the Rev. E. W. Blatts, of Dunedin. A motion of sympathy with the Leader of the Opposition (Mr Fraser) in his illness was passed by the Presbyterian General Assembly last night. It was stated that Mr Fraser had been visited regularly at the Lewisham Hospital by the Rev. W. J. Fellow, of Kelburn. The Main Highways Board,, comprising Messrs. Trevor Smith (act-ing-chairman), G. W. Belton and D. H. Cockburn (counties’ representatives), M. H. Wynyard (motorists’ representative), J. W. Scott (Ministry of Works), F. D. Grant (engineer), and W. R.’Poland (secretary) paid a I short visit to Wanganui yesterday to i hear representations on district high- | way problems.
