ENGLAND HAS SEVEN-WICKET WIN OVER SOUTH AUSTRALIAN XL

ADELAIDE, Oct 31 (Recd 11.59 pm). —England won the cricket match against South Australia today by seven wickets with 15 minutes to spare. Play, began with a spate of speculation; either the game would fizzle out or South Australia would hit up runs and declare, leaving the visitors witli a score to chase on a crumbling wicket, but nevertheless with the prospect of winning. After lunch the batsmen tried to salvage the game with a period of brighter cricket. In the duller period that followed, a handful of spectators in the outer ground repeatedly urged the batsmen to “have a go” and “make a game of it.” South Australia declared at 3.45 p.m. with 185 on the board for the loss of three wickets. Tiie English batsmen scored freeiy and 150 came up in 73 minutes. Washbrook contributed 63 in 67 minutes, hitting nine 4's. With 23 minutes left, England required 30 runs.
