WAVERLEY NOTES
Fancy Dress Ball WAVERLEY, Last Night (OC).— The costumes at the annual school fancy dress ball provided a galaxy ot colour in the Town Hall on Friday night. There was a record attendance and the costumes were considered to be the best that have been seen for some years. Mi- L. M. Fairbrother, headmaster of the District High School, in a short speech, commented on the wonderful way the parents had turned out their children. He also thanked the ladies' committee for the supper they had arranged for the children. Mr F. Appleton, chairman of the school committee, congratulated the staff on the performance of the programme provided and spoke of the tremendous amount ot work it entailed. The infants provided much amusement with their following items: "Will you please be my partner?” “Pop goes the Weasel,” “Two Little Blackbirds,” “Clap Dance,” “Cobbler, Cobbler." Other dances included: “Coming Round the Mountain,” "La Vinca,' “Susannah,” “Jingle Bells,” “Cumberland Reel,” “American Reel,” “Peasants’ Dance,” "Tancuji,” “Ace of Diamonds,” “Reap the Flax,” TrojKy.”
