APPEAL FOR FUNDS FOR HOME FOR CRIPPLED CHILDREN
There is an urgent need in Wanganui for a home for crippled children and a committee has been set up to organise an appeal to raise funds for this purpose. It proposes to concentrate its efforts in the month of November of each year. Arrangements have now been completed for this November. A big art union has been approved and prizes for this are now on display in Harman’s window. Among other organisations assisting will be the Commercial Travellers, who have undertaken to conduct a house-to-house appeal. The Savage Club is to arrange a concert in its own hall as well as one at Makirikiri. The opening clay of the Motor Boat Club will be held in November and all collections will be handed over to the crippled children's cause. Donation boxes are being distributed to various shops in the city and suburbs for the convenience of the public. The committee has put in many hours of work in organising this appeal and it feels certain that the public will well reward those efforts. Already a sum of £6O has been received. Donations to the fund may be left at the “Chronicle” office.
