Tito May Be Trying To Break With The Soviet
WASHINGTON, Oct. 29 (Recd. 11.30 pm).—lnformed officials said today they regarded Marshal Tito’s speech praising the United States aid and indirectly condemning Russian aggression, as another important step in Yugoslavia's break with the Soviet. State Department spokesmen refused to be quoted on the Belgrade speech, but some officials expressed themselves as highly pleased with Marshal Tito’s statements. “They show he is coming around more and more to our viewpoint,” one said. “The speech is an important development.”
Marshal Tito’s remarks are expected to have a favourable influence on the talks in progress here on American aid to Yugoslavia to offset the ravages of the drought that has reduced foodstuffs in the country to danger point.
