DR. FISHER WILL BE LOVED BY ALLINN.Z., SAYS SHIP’S PURSER

WELLINGTON, Oct. 26 (PA).— “The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Geoffrey Fisher, will sweep the country. He will be loved by everyone,” said Mr E. Cordery, purser of the Dominion Monarch, when she arrived in Wellington from Southampton today. Dr. Fisher left the ship at Fremantle to start his Australian tour. “Dr. Fisher was approachable by everyone. He has a great brain, but is very simple in himself,” said the purser. “During our regular 10.30 a.m. services each Sunday he read the lesson twice and delivered two sermons. These were direct and simple. He was present at all services. Before he left the ship he dressed in full ceremonial robes to let anyone take photographs of him. Mr Cordery is a Londoner who has been 32 years at sea, 12 of them in the Dominion Monarch. He served with the New Zealanders in the first World War.
