Nominations for county councils, borough councils and town boards closed before noon yesterday. Elections will be necessary in some county ridings in the Wanganui district, and at Ohakune an extraordinary situation has arisen. As no nominations have been received for the Rangitikei Ctchment Board representative, the returning officer is required to set a further date far the election. Nominations for this vacancy close on November 15, and. if necessary, an election will be held on December 6. Rangitikei County In the Rangitikei County elections will be be held in the Rangitoto and Otakapu Ridings, where both sitting councillors are being opposed, ine rest have been returned unopposed, all i sitting members having again been, nominated. The county has three seats on the Rangitikei Catchment I Board and for the first time since the i inception of the board an election will | be necessary, four nominations having | been received for three vacancies. One sitting member of the Catchment Board, Mr. A. H. Marshall (Marton) is not seeking re-election. The county has four representatives on the Wanganui Hospital Board at present, but under the re-arrangement of representation will have only three. The required number of nominations has been received and no election will be necessary. Messrs D. G- Gordon and A P Howard, however, are retiring from the Hospital Board. Elections will be necessary in the Mangamahu and Kuakatea Ridings i of the Wanganui County.
