Advice to this effect was received by the Wanganui City Council from the Department of Internal Affairs al the monthly meeting last night. The dei partment’s letter stated, however, that if the council wished to submit an alternative scheme it would still be considered in relation to a subsidy. Cr. H. R. GHberd said that the R.S.A. had never expected the proposal would bo subsidised. The letter was referred to the special committee o( the council dealing with this question.
