BOBBY LOCKE TO PLAY SILK OVER 18 HOLES AT BELMONT
Bobby Locke South African holder of the British "open golf title, opens his New Zealand tour at Wanganui on October 25. Locke has been described as the greatest golfing machine of all time, and his appearance in Wanganui should create a stir among golfing circles. He arrives in Wellington by air from Australia on Tuesday, October 24, and will travel to Wanganui the same day. His opponent at the Belmont links will be Bryan Silk, well known Wanganui golfer, who is a former New Zealand amateur champion and holder, with J. F. Collins of the New Zealand open and amateur foursomes title. The game will be played under match play conditions over 18 holes and will be followed by a demonstra - tion and lecture by Locke. Bobby Locke was in New Zealand for the first time in 1938. At Wanganui his opponents were J. Goss, F. C. Hutchison and L. Cat.hro.
