DEATH OF WOMAN AT NEW PLYMOUTH AT AGE OF 100 YEARS
NEW PLYMOUTH. Last Night (PA).- The death of Mrs Mary Ann Barley, who celebrated her 100th birthday last August, occurred at New Plymouth today. Mrs Barley was the widow of the Rev. Chas. T. Barley, who at the lime of his death, in 1888, was minister in charge of the Hawera Metlioflist Church. She was horn in Wcrmogny in the county of Norfolk. In 1878, she left England for New Zealand with her husband They settled in Oamaru, where Mr Barley opened the first Methodist. Church After living aWarkworth. North Auckland, for a short time. Mr end Mrs Bariev moved to Hawera. Six months after their I arrival. Mr Earle’.’ died. Mrs Barlev | spent 60 years in Hav/ern. where she | was well known as a staunch supnorter of the Methodist Church.
