Wanganui Croquet Club Opens Its Season

On Saturday afternoon a large number of visitors from other clubs, members and friends of the Wanganui Croquet Club attended the opening of the new season. The president (Mr Allan) welcomed the Mayor, Hon. W. J. Rogers M.L.C., Mr and Mrs Wilson, visitors and new members, and paid tribute to the work the club members had done during the winter months. The Mayor congratulated the club on its 29th birthday and extended best wishes for a successful year.

Mr N. R. Wilson <spoke highly of the improvements and beauty of the lawns and surroundinngs. Beautiful sunshine tempted everyout to take part in competitions, wm the ladder; Mr Peters won both angle peg and scuttles; and Mr McClymont won the crazy hoops.

... . b. Bassett was responsible for the dainty floral decorations in the pavilion, where afternoon tea was served. Mrs Newburn presented shoulder sprays to Mrs Allan, Mrs Wilson and Miss Notman. Mrs Wilson put the first ball through the hoop and play commenced.
