British Overseas Airways Engineers Organise A Protest At Dismissals

LONDON, Oct. b (6 pm).—Some 350 supervisory engineers at London airport decided to “work to rule” in a protest against the dismissal of 52 long-service men al Langley airport, Slough. As a result British Overseas Airways Corporation airliners will run late and work will be slowed down. The engineers' action committee has informed the management that the men will ban overtime and personally check every item of maintenance instead of leaving certain jobs to skilled engineers of a lower grade. This means that airliners which now run to a tight schedule will be delayed for hours and in some case's for days. Engineers at three other 8.0.A.C. bases have approved the actions ano decided to adopt, similar tactics.
