FAIRLY SUCCESSFUL ARMY RECRUITING CAMPAIGN CLOSES

Four men and a youth were signed up for entry into the New Zealand Army by the recruiting team which ended its three-day campaign in Wanganui yesterday. Information was also given to numerous men who inquired at the recruiting stand in Victoria Avenue. Generally, the campaign had been moderately successful, said the Interviewing oflicer, Lieutenant B. M. Poananga. If each of the recruiting teams operating throughout New Zealand could sign up five entrants for the Army from each city the total would be appreciable. There was a chance, too, Lieutenant Poananga said, that some of those who had sought information about 'the Army during the campaign would return to the Drill Hall later to enlist.
