FORMER BRITISH CABINET MINISTER TO VISIT WANGANUI

Distinguished visitors to Wanganui next Thursday will be the Rt. Hon Ernest Brown, C.H., M.C., a former prominent British Cabinet Minister, and Mrs Brown, who have come to New Zealand to attend the annual assembly of the Baptist Union at the: end of the month. Arriving from New Plymouth at mid-day on Thursday, Mr Brown will address members of the Baptist Church in the Ingest re Street Baptist Church at 5.45 p.m. He will also address a public meeting in the sail at night. Mr Brown was a menwer of Mr Churchill's Cabinet, was for live years Minister of Labour, three years Minister of Mines, three years Minister of Health, was Secretary of State for Scotland and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster. He is immediate past president of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and was the first chairman of the European Committee tor U.N.R.R.A. In 1945 he was awarded a Companionship of Honour. Mrs Brown has been three times president of the Baptist Women’s League and a member of the executive of the Baptist. World Alliance I since 1934.
