Taranaki’s Win In Representative Hockey

NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept. 17, (0.C.). Taranaki had convincing wins in two representative hockey matches against Feilding at Eltham on Saturday. In each case the combination of Taranaki players proved too much for the individualism of the opponents. Results: Taranaki A 5, v. Feilding A I; Taranaki B 6. v. Feilding B 1. The Feilding’s best attacking players in the main match were the wings, Rees on the left and Elgar on the right, and the goalkeeper, Jansen, performed well in face of persistent attacks. Feilding, however, lacked the necessary cohesion to bring the attacks to a .successful conclusion, or to counter repeated attacks by Taranaki, which held the territorial advantage throughout. It was only in occasional breaks that Feilding reached the Taranaki circle, hut not one shot found the goal. Feilding’s score being netted by Sutton from a penally bully. Scorers lor Taranaki were Partridge (two), Butler, Cave and Barleyman. 'l'he outstanding Feilding player in the ollit game was Raven, at fullbaek. rhp m sidp right, Lightfoot, was the pick n f ihr forwards. and Smith, at. centre half was the best of that lino.
