HIGH STANDARD OF BADMINTON AT N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS
CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 17, (PA).— Play was of the highest standard when the New Zealand badminton championships concluded here on Saturday evening. The strength of the game appears to be distributed ■ evenly throughout the associations, as titles went to Canterbury, Otago, Auckland and Wairarapa. The new champions are:—■ A grade: Men's singles, P. Hawksworth (Wairarapa); women's singles, Mrs. M. L. Potts (Canterbury); men's doubles, P. D. Skelt and L. A- Rankin (Otago); women's dobules, Misses V. Johnson and H. Redwood (Auckland); combined doubles, P. Hawksworth (Wairarapa) and Mrs. M. L. Potts (Canterbury). B grade: Men's singles, R. Macefield (Canterbury); women’s singles, Miss S. H. Cox (Otago); men’s doubles, K. C. Wilson and W. Welsh (Canterbury); women’s doubles, Mrs. E. Neill and Miss S. 11. Cox (Otago); combined doubles, G. Pearce (Otago) and Miss V. Johnson (Auckland).
