Westbourne The meeting of the Westbourne Women's Institute Garden Circle was held at the home of Mrs Vinten, WickSteed Street on September 5. Members were welcomed by Mrs S. Copp, convener, who opened the meeting with prayer. A letter of thanks for flowers was read from Mrs Uttley. The October meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Wadham, Somme Parade, and the competition will be a twig basket 4 inches square, 2 inches high of flowers, and there will be a demonstration. Mrs. Copp conducted a “Quiz’' on cut flowers, and thei keeping of same. Two social competitions run by Mrs Wadham were won by Mesdames Gillies and Stephens. Gardening hints were exchanged and a pleasant afternoon closed with a hearts' vote of thanks to Mrs Vinten for the use of her home, and afternoon tea. Competition results: —lib. jam par of spring flowers, Mrs Swan 1, Mrs Burns 2, Mrs Stilborn 3.
