LARGE CROWD AT ANNUAL STOCK AND STATION AGENTS’ BALL
A special feature of the annual ball of the Wanganui Stock and Station Agents held last night in the big wool store at Wanganui East was the effectively carried out scheme of decoration. Orange and lemon coloured streamers were festooned under the ceiling ad round the walls and the cubicles (formed by the bin partitions) had been arranged greenery entwined with paper flowers and finished with looped strings of tiny multicoloured lights. Cut-outs depicting various animals, looked down on the dancers from the wails and pillars. On the 40 supper tables, were vases of spring flowers. Between 1500 and 2000 people were present, and the many pretty frocks x of the feminine dancers, some in rich toning and trimmed with brilliants or jacket of sequins, helped to make a picturesque scene. As the evening progressed the number of dancers increased until the floor was a vast moving throng. The committee responsible for the success' of the bail comprised Mr C. S. Smith (chairman); Miss J. Berg (secretary); Mrs Abraham. Misses L. McDonald, S. Ryan, N. Findlay, A. Williams, B. Pitkethley, P. Dor’.iloson, Messrs. G. Curtis, W. E. Jagger, H. Ireland, S. R. S.ory, P. How e, Jones, W. House, R. Lockett, R. Nelson, O. Handley, Chapman, J. Rolls and D. Curtis.
