SURPRISE DEFEATS IN OPENING PLAY FOR TABLE TENNIS TITLES

The defeat of O. B. Welsh by G. Denman, a B grade player, was the major upset in the first round of the Wanganui Table Tennis Association’s open champinnship played in the Gonvine Town Hall last night. Another surprise was the achievement of G. Everenden, a junior player, who accounted for K. Mahoney, a representative player, in three straight sets.
