PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Sept. 1 (0.C.). -No success has been obtained in determining (he origin of the inse t believed to be causing the death of manuka in both Islands, states a portion of the annual report of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. This • research is being carried out by the Entomological Research Station, which is under control of Dr. David Miller, who in 1935 liberated the bidi fcidi parasite beetle in the Wanganui area
Another type of research the station undertook during the year v.T.i on the probable effect of the proposed work in the VVaitomo Caves on the glow-worm population. No indl cation is given whether the work would be detrimental to the glowworms.
