Profit On N.Z. Cricket Tour Of England £16,800; Wanganui To Get £125
CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night (PA) —Final returns from the New Zealand cricket team’s tour of Britain last year were announced this evening by the chairman of the management committee of the New Zealand Cricket Council Mr D. A. Colville, at the half-yearly meeting of delegates to the council.
Mr. Colville said the profit would be about £16,800, bringing the total funds of the council to approximately £22,500
The management committee was unanimous that a touring reserve fund of £15,000 be set aside from this amount.
Of £7500 available for distribution, each major association would receive £1250 and each of the 20 minor associations £125. Waiapu was the only minor association which would not share in the distribution. This decision was taken because Waiapu was practically defunct said Mr: Colville. An Otago remit that in future when arranging an itinerary for tours with overseas teams an effort be made to arrange a match between a New Zealand Brabin Shield team and a visiting team, was lost.
Mr. Colville, and other speakers, said that as the Brabyn Shield contest did not come under the control of the council it would not be fair to give preference to a Brabin Shield team when arranging fixtures. Some of the minor associations might miss out on matches because of the Brabin Shield fixtures, it was felt.
