Education Board To Circulate Handbook For School Committees
AUCKLAND, July 19 (PA).—A'decision to circulate the Education De- ; aru.ie.-.t’s handbook for the guidance of school committee members was made by the Auckland Education Board today. The board, at its last meeting, greeted the handbook with a mixed reception. It was also decided today that copies of its bylaws be circulated with the handbook, pointing out that the bylaws took pecedence over the booklet.
Mr. M. Priestly, who at the last meeting cempared the booklet with a certain type of modern art, said he owed the department an apology. "1 was referring to the covei - only,' he explained. "I had not noticed the small sketches inside, which, If put in an art gallery, would attract more favourab’e attention than many modern works.”
