Caledonian Society Needs Mere Members
A plea for increased membership made by Mr. I. A. Mclntyre, president of the Wanganui Caledonian Society in the annual report to bo presented to the annual meeting on July 26. The present membership is 60. In January, a successful sports meeting was held cn Spriggens Park. There were 100 entries in the piping section and more than 200 in the dancing section. The report thanks Mr. N. C. Arms'rong for work in Ihe rcgirJral'on of the society, and Mr. J. Die!: for donating a Highland dressed doll. During the year a social committee under the leadership of Mr. J. Melkle, was set up and several successful functions have been held, states the report. A church parade was held last November, to St. Paul’s Church, when an address was given by the Rev. A. C. McLean, on St. Andrew. The Highland Pipe Band
was in attendance. A visit was paid to the Tarton Scottish Society in the past 12 months and an enjoyable evening was held. The report thanks members of the committee and the voluntary workers who have assisted to make the year a *<ccessful one.
